It's the end of a hectic workday and you need some me time. Usually, I would dunk into my covers and sing along to the Wicked soundtrack after work, but I got a taste for good food and a sweet treat. Born and raised in the south, I'm gonna need something thick with a little ole sweet tea that's sweeter than diabetes. So, grab your eating pants and follow me to my favorite getaways for a perfect self-care day after work.

First, let me thank God. I called on God so many times today at work because we won't crash out. We got rent and bills to pay. This delicious food that I'm about to describe is worth not crashing out.

I'm thinking something sweet and not worried about calories, let's start off at my favorite hotspot for a delicious treat known as Mayday Ice Cream. The place of sweetness galore. Mayday always has the best selection of decadent and delicious gluten free flavas too (strawberry is my fave). The flavor I have been craving and want to sell my left toe for had been sold out for weeks. Yesterday, I knew it was going to be great day because caramel apple pie came down from the heavens. The apple pie crust pieces, cinnamon spiced apples and the taste of carmel ice cream. Oh jesus, this ain't texas. I'm lactose intolerant so I'll get more later on during the week.

Just down the street, there's another spot known for its taste, class, and irresistible dishes: Welcome to The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen.

I have a taste for something savory and that will stick to this stomach. Let's roll down to The Manship located in the Belhaven District. I've been here before but with co-workers and friends. So, I decided to go solo and that was the best idea ever. The service was phenomenal from the walk-in to my table. At first, I thought I was going to be sitting at the bar, but I got the table. Shoutout to my favorite server, Joe. Very elite service and kept me in high spirits the entire time.

Can we talk about food? I thought you never ask. Take a look below.

Do you see what I see? The infamous BBQ Shrimp & Grits. The presentation is top tier. I don't know who's in the kitchen, but I want to thank your momma every day for blessing you. Thick and creamy grits with a buttery and savory sauce with a punching kick of heat. Squeeze a little bit of lemon that's garnished to side, elevates the dish entirely. The shrimp. It was seasoned baby. This ain't no baby shrimp, this that "nobody puts baby in a corner" kind of shrimp. It was only five shrimp, I wish it was more, but so delicious.

The thickness of the grits, the shrimp and sauce in one bite makes you forget about everything. It was a dish to remember, and I will be coming back for more.

The sudden urge of something sweet makes me ponder. I can feel the button on my pants about to burst but, I know it's definitely time for dessert. The Manship has some great sweet options such as apple pie topped with caramel, powdered sugar and a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream. If you really want to become addicted, try the pecan cobbler. Over here, we don't worry about calories.

This evening, I decided on the renowned apple pie from The Manship. It tasted like a heaven. The thick crust, diced apples and vanilla ice cream combined were magical. Not to mention the caramel drizzle and powdered sugar. Just know I slept like a baby once I got home. This is the perfect way to conclude a busy workday that transformed into a wonderful night thanks to The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen.
