The gossip is spicy like pickled garlic, and the tea is sweeter than sweet tea. Down in the south where the heat waves are blazing, I believe I just saw the film of the year. In my eyes, I saw the award-winning and cinematic masterpiece known as Sinners. This film will be talked around for future generations. The Smokestack Twins. Smoke and Stack. Grills and all. Let me tell you, God is so good, I cannot lie, when I saw two Michael B. Jordan's on the screen, at the same time, I said "Lord, it's two of em."

"I have to say, Michael B. Jordan delivers an outstanding performance throughout the entire film. I've been following his career since The Wire, and he surpasses my expectations in every role he takes on."

The fashion style of the Smokestack Twins is quite distinct. Three-piece suit. Baby they hotter than fish grease. Just how I like em'. Stack sports vibrant red details in his attire, indicating his desire to be the center of attention. In contrast, Smoke opts for a velvet blue ensemble, embodying the intelligent one who prefers to meticulously plan everything. Ah, siblings, what can you do?!

Sinners certainly left an impression with its memorable characters throughout the entire film such as the soul man himself, Sammie, Annie, Cornbread, Delta Slim and most of all, the dialogue that felt like home. The talent and creativity of Ryan Coogler with his paper and pen are truly remarkable. To me, this award-winning cinematic masterpiece is a sight to behold.

Let's dive into some of my favorite characters from Sinners.

Sammie

In the film, we discover the story of the Stack Twins, Annie and Delta Slim. Sammie's narrative particularly captivated me, as he was determined to escape the cotton fields of the south and just simply yearned to play and sing the blues. One day can change everything such as his preacher father reminded him. Sammie embarked on a journey and discovered that his music brought out something more terrifying than the devil.

Smoke and Annie

Excuse me, I can't take this smile off my face. Yes, I'm definitely blushing chile.

In the words of Stack, "Wooohhhh!!" The scene from Smoke and Annie drew me in closely. In this scene we learn about Smoke and Annie. The infamous mojo necklace. Oh boy, they definitely have history. We learn about the baby that they lost and where he places the beautiful flowers on their child's grave. Many people thinking that Annie was his mother or sister. Now who gave y'all that idea? Just because she's fluffy, don't mean she ain't go no motion. We can pull em all, clock it!

For me, I knew that Annie was a person that he loved deeply and much so, as Annie muttered the words, "Your body ain't forget me". Oh snap, it's about to get hot in here now!!

The blues deeply permeates the South and experiencing that throughout the entire film made it even more enchanting. The different genres of sounds in the juke joint scene. The vibrant and ground stomping sounds of Pale, Pale Moon. Black people just feeling free. I feel and see my people. The heat is up do you hear me, y'all know which scene I'm talking about. Sammie singing down to I Lied To You, the constant riveting beat, the 80s/90s culture, imagery of electro dance music, modern day twerking and the small specks of fire coming down from the juke joint. Chef kiss. Definitely one of my favorite scenes.

The people of the delta are releasing the burdens of their work week, experiencing freedom for the first time in their lives. As the small sparks of fire descending into the sky...we encounter that one individual—a Irish white man who is also a vampire and his two little minions. Welp, I guess the lucky charms aren't magically delicious. Just like a white man, trying to ruin things for everyone else.

Let the battle commence with numerous surprising twists.

Overall, Sinners left me craving more. The one-line hitters such as "Boy, if you don't get the f-- out my face" or "Nah fool, it's Jim Crow". Those lines will definitely be used in my comebacks for now on, thanks Ryan 😂. I will definitely be returning to watch it again. Honestly, in my opinion, Sinners doesn't require a sequel. This masterpiece is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

One final note. You know the scene that left this southern black woman filled with Mississippi joy. No explanation required. If you know, you know.
